We've had a fun couple of weeks since Keira was born...at least as much fun that can be had during recovery after labor. This post will be a little backwards because I'm going from current events to earlier events.
Grandma Judy came out to help me for a week with Keira while Rick went back to work followed by Grandpa Paul and Grandma Jenny for another week. Boy am I lucky! I didn't know how much help I really needed until we got home from the hospital. The second week has been easier for me already, but I'm still lagging.
Rick's birthday was on Sunday, the 8th. He's going to a couple of Red Sox games this summer and what's a baseball game experience without the proper memorabilia to represent his team. We also took our first outing as a family and brought Grandpa Paul and Grandma Jenny along. Lucky for them, they flew in the night before so it was perfect timing to celebrate Rick's special day with us :) We went to Valley Falls Park for a picnic lunch and it had a beautiful lake, beach, and trail along a stream. Later, we played games, watched Les Miserables, and completed the day with German Chocolate Cake and ice cream. Yummy!

For Memorial Day, Rick's team worked the morning and afternoon so we could do a party for the evening. We went to a local park and had a BBQ restaurant cater the food, the boys played kickball, and Rick brought his trick kite for the boys to try. It was fun and low stress. We usually cook all the food and go swimming, but it was a chillier night and the pool at the park was closed. I don't think it would have been as fun at our complex because we have an indoor pool and questionable BBQ resources. It worked out perfect.
I didn't get a chance to post our short trip to Boston before arrival of baby Keira. We found this beautiful park that was so green so we enjoyed a nice walk through it. Rick's cousin, Jake, and his buddy, Joe, joined us and they requested we go to the Cheers bar "where everybody knows your name". We met up with a few other couples later and walked the Freedom Trail. It took us to some historical sites including chapels, burying grounds, and monument. It was quite the walk for the pregnant lady. That exercise could have had some influence on Keira coming early...who knows? Our trip was cut a little shorter because the rains started coming in, but it was nice to see some more of the east coast while we were here.
