October Fun - Part 1

I haven't looked at any pictures for a couple weeks because Rick downloaded them for me. After glancing at them tonight, I have A LOT to catch up on!

- We took Gramma Judy to an apple/peach orchard where we picked delicious fruit to our hearts content. This inspired me to become quite domestic :) With the apples, we canned applesauce (inspired by Gramma Lynda) and with the peaches, peach pie FOR THE FIRST time ever. I only made a pie crust from scratch once before and it wasn't flaky so I never had the desire to try again. I knew I had to overcome my fears and get over it! It turned out perfect! (at least that's what the lucky taste-testers told me).

- Rick traveled to Alaska for his first conference! He spent a week there with several presentations in Anchorage and driving all over the state for different appointments. Of course, he loved it there! No sales tax!! Oh yeah, and he talked his co-worker into renting a small airplane to fly above the gorgeous glaciers and Denali/Mt. McKinley to get a better view :) Lucky guy. We did get to see video footage, though. Thanks hon :)

- Domestic-ness continues...We learned about Thanksgiving Point and their grape vines from our friend Rachel. Are we lucky to be friends with her or what? It turns out they grow tons of grapevines and come September/October, it's open to anyone who wants to pick them...for FREE! If no one picks them, they just let them fall off the vine! We made 2 separate trips with Desirae and kids so we could make us some yummy, homemade grape juice..and loads of it. Thanks to Rachel (again) we borrowed her Steam Juicer and went to town. In fact, that is an understatement. The pictures have NO representation of how much we actually made (nor the process it was) because I was so focused on my methods that I had no thought to taking pictures. Dang it! I'll tell you now, I spent 3 days making juice. My counter tops were literally covered with piles of green and purple grapes. I was SO done with looking or thinking about grapes after that. Of course, you can see a small amount of the fruits of our labor, but that is about 1/4 of the actual amount of juice we made between ours and our friend Desirae and family. It's awesome! We even made 3 different flavored juices. Yum!

- When Rick returned from his much envied trip, we made sure to attend our ward Fall Carnival. We thought the girls would be dressing as Coraline, but last minute had a wardrobe change, unbeknownst to me since I went early to set up a booth. Still, our dashing princesses were happy to be able to leave the house dressed in style.

Notice the sweet princess in purple (Lexi) who was mesmerized by the mummy. I was shocked that she wasn't scared by it!Keira won cupcakes at the bake walk...and of course shared with her favorite people: us!
Halloween festivities continue...I'll be back.

The Happiest Place on Earth

We love Disneyland! I have to admit that I went many times as a kid and teen that as an adult, I swore I wouldn't go again until I had kids old enough to enjoy it. It was so worth the wait! We discovered the magic with our cutie girls and it was like I'd never been before. Disneyland is so much better through children's eyes (although...aren't most things?) Anyway, after sifting through 300 pictures or more, I finally whittled it down to just a "few" pictures. I wanted to capture everything! I'm so happy we got to go and with so much family. Grampa Paul and Gramma Jenny and a bunch of Rick's family: Grampa Craig, Gramma Lynda, Aunt E, Uncle V, cousin Eva, Uncle Cam, and Cam's gf Annie. We spent 3 days there between Disneyland and California Adventure. Perfect for a first time for kids and a first time in 10 years for me. Rick couldn't remember the last he'd been there. We were certainly glad to have some Disneyland experts with us (thanks G'ma & G'pa).

We danced our way to Main Street where we awaited entry to the park...
We were lucky to visit with Snow White right away and it was perfect as we had our own little Snow White in tow.
Keira says this was her favorite ride. Was that because it was the first one?
Beginning of Day 2 - met up with Bassett family to get some pics in front of the Mickey head.
Are these princesses or dwarfs (Bashful, Grumpy, and Happy)?
We think this was Lexi's favorite because she wanted to ride this one over and over...and every time we walked passed it, over and over...
Lovebirds that added to our fun
We saw many more characters and princessesLunch at Ariel's Grotto
Gramma wasn't a fan of the ferris wheel in California Adventure so she watched from the sidelines. Glad that Grampa came though even if he is afraid of heights! Keira hopped in with the Bassett family on this one.
Day 3 - Whassup Minnie fans?
Toon TownOur fun didn't end there! We headed north to welcome Rick's brother, Dallin, home from his mission. Of course, we had to stop and visit with my sister, Gina, and Donovan even if we could only stay for 45 mins. Sorry Gina :(

Dallin walked through the airport, completely beaming. His countenance explained everything. He served a successful mission and worked so hard for 2 years. We are so proud of him and so glad we got to see him come home. Only one day home and we packed him up to go camping with us and the Bassett clan. It was so great to spend quality time together.

Grampa Craig brought his guitar and let the girls help him play.
The girls didn't want to wait for the beach to build sand castles so they played in the dirt.
Uncle Dallin telling mission stories.Swimming and body-surfing waves...Rick's favorite thing to do at the beach.
The girls may follow in Daddy's footsteps.
Got some cuddle time in - cousin Eva with Aunt Elise
We wish we could have stayed forever, but it came time to head home. With so much driving time ahead of us, we decided to bang out a couple of hours and stay in Sacramento for a night. We stayed with Aunt Rochelle and family (thanks for putting us up) and the girls had a blast playing with even more cousins.Lucky for us, Aunt Coley came over too so we got some storytime with her. Got to get her when we can :)We couldn't have asked for a better vacation. Disneyland, camping, the beach, and family. Love it all!
